Hell has officially frozen over, because CM Punk is back in WWE. Nearly a decade after leaving the company, which included a very public lawsuit against them, fences have been mended and The Voice of the Voiceless returned at Survivor Series.
As soon as the initial shock of his appearnace wore off, fans started to wonder if CM Punk will be a part of the WWE 2K24 roster. With fellow AEW departure Cody Rhodes a big piece of last year's release, we could see the same in a few short months.
Will CM Punk be in WWE 2K24?
While nothing is confirmed just yet, the timing of his arrival makes a WWE 2K24 appearance for CM Punk a very real possibility. The closest comparison to this is Cody Rhodes, someone who had previously been in the WWE 2K franchise several years ago and abruptly returned just in the last few years.
Cody Rhodes reportedly had things in place for his arrival in WWE for at least a few months, but his return at WrestleMania 38 came just after WWE 2K22 had been released. Any attempts at that stage to rush through a version of Rhodes would've come too late, so he was held off as a key addition to the WWE 2K23 roster.
However, CM Punk may narrowly make the cutoff. WWE 2K24 isn't expected to get release announcements until late January 2024, and development has already been ongoing for months. With a good three months or so of development left, we actually could see CM Punk as a last minute addition to the WWE 2K24 roster.
If he isn't in the game at launch, or potentially even used as a pre-order bonus or something tied to a special edition of the title, the next most likely option is to make CM Punk part of a post-launch DLC pack. We saw a series of DLC releases last year to continue expanding the roster with a variety of superstars, and they may link CM Punk to one of these if his in-game model isn't ready for the WWE 2K24 release date.
